Chek Jawa

During the English lessons, our teacher gave us an assignment which was about going on a virtual tour on Chek Jawa. At first, I did not know where Chek Jawa is but after doing some researching on Google, I found out that Chek Jawa is actually located at Pulau Ubin, Singapore. Chek Jawa is located on the south-eastern tip of Pulau Ubin and is one of the last few places where you could find a natural rocky shore in Singapore.

The thing that fascinated me the most were the fishes and especially the Diamond Wrasse. They are the only fish species that have quite colourful scales that can be found there. The Diamond Wrasse live in sandy parts of rocky shores and during low tide, they will bury themselves under the sand or even hide under rocks. They only feed on small creatures and are also scavengers.

The other fish species that too can be found there are the Tripod Fish, Pipefish, Toadfish, Butterfly Fish, Scorpion fish, Goby, Frogfish, Tongue Sole fish, Leatherjacket fish, Grouper and Carpet Eel.

I always know that there might be some fishes that I might not be able to see as they might be located somewhere far away from Singapore. If I have the opportunity to go to Chek Jawa(Pulau Ubin), I will definitely go there and see for myself the creatures living there.

Confessions of a Pteromerhanophobic and Arophobia

When I heard that my family and I was going to Bangkok, Thailand during the End-Of-Year 2004 school holidays, I was too excited that I could not even sleep the night before. The day after, we woke up early in the morning as we had to take an early flight there.
After a few minutes of waiting, it was time to finally board the plane. I decided to take a sit near the window as I wanted to see how the plane was going to fly. Without any time to waste, the plane took off from the runway swiftly and was high up in the clouds.
When it was fine to move about, I looked out of the window. My whole body suddenly started to tremble for no apparent reason. I tried my best to calm myself down but it wasn't enough. This continued for the rest of the flight even though I already have looked away from the window.
Finally, when it was time for the plane to land, I felt relieved but I still decided not to look out of the window until the plane have finally landed. When it was time for the passengers to get out of the plane, I looked out of the window and gave a sigh of relief. I never thought that I was pteromerhanophobic, meaning, being afraid of flying and also acrophobia, meaning, being afraid of heights.

Growth Day

On 9 Jauary, it was our school growth day. It was the day when all the students in our school had to set our targets and for those in secondary one to choose their CCA. Two of my classmates, Jun da and Mahkes were to act in a 30 second video advertisment. It took while to complete the making of the video as it was our first time doing it. After the video was done, the whole school got to see the video. After the school was over, I and a few students who are in National Cadet Corps(NCC) had to stay back to help out in attracting my CCA so that more people would join. After the whole event ended, all of us cadets were told to go home and rest. Some decided to change first while others decided to went home as quickly as possible as it was getting quite late. As it was a friday, all of us got to rest during the weekend.
